Born in 1894 the original Sydney Salt Company saltworks stood on the edge of the Tasman Sea at Austinmer, in Wollongong's northern suburbs. Despite new technology and a grand vision, a series of natural disasters and bud luck saw the saltworks close its doors after only 6 years.
114 years on, the vision of a high quality salt business that inspired the founders of the original Sydney Salt Company was again revived and Sydney Salt Company reformed.
